Science
Age group: All Ages

Join Kate the Chemist, author of “The Big Book of Experiments” for this explosive event. This special performance for Explore UT will begin with a brief science communications lesson. Dr. Kate Biberdorf will show off chemistry experiments such as the Thunder Cloud and viewers can participate along with her from school or home during the Dry Ice Bubbles and Bubble Snake experiments. There will be a reading from the “STEM Night Disaster” and participants will be encouraged to listen and share how "science" is incorporated into the text.  There will be a question and answer session with the remote audience. The show will conclude with the announcement of winners in the Kate the Chemist Texas Educators Prize Give-away. Prizes include a visit and performance for one lucky school!  Enter and learn more details here. Submission deadline is Wednesday, March 3.

Kate Biberdorf is a chemist, science entertainer and professor at UT Austin. Through her theatrical and hands-on approach to teaching, Dr. Biberdorf is breaking down the image of the stereotypical scientist, while reaching students who might otherwise be intimidated by science. She is the author of four popular science books, including Amazon's Best Book of 2020, "The Big Book of Experiments". She has appeared repeatedly on national television, including The Today Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she performs explosive chemistry demos and provides inspiring messages about science for all.
