Repurposing Plastic Film into Plastic Yarn

Engineering
Age group: Middle/Junior High School, High School
Plastic bags are everywhere throughout our earth! They are in our homes, gutters, landfills, and even our oceans! Did you know that plastic shopping bags are only used for an average of 12 minutes? After that, what do you do with them? Engineers are creating ways to remove plastic from our oceans and ways to convert plastic bags into energy. In this activity, we will be using our engineering skills to repurpose plastic bags so they can be reused in many different ways and prevent plastic pollution in our environment! If you want to want to do the activity together, or have questions about engineering or UT Austin, please join the zoom meeting! We are excited to speak with you!!
